Another season of adventure is underway

"Atlantic Adventurer" is back in her home port of Trinity, Trinity Bay, NL. We left the marina centre at Hodges Cove on Friday for the four hour steam back home. The masts are taken out and left at our marina at the end of the season, so it's up to our 120hp Ford diesel engine to get us home.
What an exciting trip along the way.....we saw a dozen icebergs, some very large and very close, and in all shapes and sizes. We also saw our first humpback whale for the year. There were many puffins and other seabirds returning to nest in the cliffs and on the islands. This is the most icebergs we have seen in many years, so it looks like we could have them until July this year.

We have a new mainmast to replace the wooden one, so it now has to be rigged and hoisted in place by a crane as soon as possible. We are like that line in the Beach Boys song "The sloop John B"....we want to see how the mainsail sets.

The Dock restaurant, art and craft gallery will open May 31, 2008. This is a wonderful time of year for fresh seafood with lobster and snow crab in season and fresh from the North Atlantic.

Hope to see many of you this year,

Good sailing and many adventures,
